Message from CEO Tracey Bedenbaugh

Welcome to Piedmont Agency on Aging!

Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to learn more about our mission and the seniors we proudly serve.

Our story began in 1971 as the Greenwood Council on Aging, serving older adults throughout Greenwood County. As the need for services grew, so did our commitment to meeting those needs. In 1988, when our services expanded into Abbeville County, we became Piedmont Agency on Aging. We continued that growth by welcoming Laurens County in 2014 and Saluda County in 2017. Today, we are proud to be the only local Council on Aging serving Greenwood, Abbeville, Laurens, and Saluda counties.

For more than five decades, our mission has remained the same: helping older adults maintain their independence, health, and dignity while remaining in the place they most want to be—their own homes and communities.

Every day, our dedicated staff and volunteers provide nutritious meals, transportation, senior center programing, wellness activities, and other essential services that improve the quality of life for thousands of seniors throughout the communities we serve.

Our work is only possible because of the generous support of volunteers, donors, community partners, and advocates who believe every senior deserves to age with dignity and respect.

Because we are a local, independent nonprofit, every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of support directly benefits the seniors living right here in Greenwood, Abbeville, Laurens, and Saluda counties.

As our senior population continues to grow, so does the need for our services. We remain committed to serving today’s seniors while preparing for the future, ensuring that generations to come will continue to receive the care, nourishment, and support they deserve.

Thank you for your interest in Piedmont Agency on Aging. Together, we can continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of the seniors who call our community home.

With gratitude, Tracey Bedenbaugh
